Phage Display & Antibody Library Services

Phage display links a protein, antibody, or peptide to the gene that encodes it. The binding molecule is fused to a phage coat protein and displayed on the phage surface, so each phage carries both the displayed variant and the DNA that defines it. Panning the library against a target enriches the phages that bind, and because the sequence travels with the binder, the enriched hits can be recovered and identified directly. This coupling of binding to sequence is what makes phage display a productive discovery platform.

A discovery program needs work at both ends of the process: a library good enough to contain the answer, and a selection strategy that can find it. We provide both. Libraries can be constructed in several formats, including whole-antibody fragments and engineered protein scaffolds or constrained peptides, and they can be mined for a range of objectives — general high-affinity binding, or a specific behavior a project requires, such as cell entry, thermal stability, or single-domain (VHH) screening. The services below are organized so a project can be matched to the library and the selection it needs, including the site's existing VHH screening page where a single-domain binder is the goal.

Why Library and Screening Work Belong Together

  • Library quality sets the ceiling – the diversity and correctness of the library determine what can ever be found in it.
  • Selection defines the outcome – the conditions of panning decide whether the hits are useful or merely bind.
  • Format must fit the application – full antibody fragments, scaffolds, and peptides each suit different targets and uses.
  • Sequence is the deliverable – what comes out of the process is defined molecules, not only a positive signal.

Service Areas

Which Service Fits Your Goal

Service What it delivers Typical goal
Phage Display Library Construction Antibody libraries in Fab or scFv format Build a library from an immune or natural source
Engineered Scaffold Library Construction Scaffold-based libraries in a chosen display system Non-immunoglobulin binders with a stable framework
Constrained Peptide Library Construction Defined sets of synthetic peptides Epitope mapping and functional peptide screening
Internalizing Antibody Screening Antibodies that enter cells by receptor-mediated uptake Payload delivery and internalizing therapeutic leads
Thermostable scFv/Fab Screening Fragments selected for high melting temperature Reagents that must survive demanding conditions
Protease Substrate Screening Peptide substrates that define protease specificity Substrate discovery and inhibitor design
Fully Human Antibody Preparation Fully human antibodies from human libraries Lead discovery with low immunogenicity
VHH Antibody Screening Single-domain VHH antibodies screened by phage display Small, stable binders from camelid-derived libraries (existing site page)

How a Program Runs

  • Define the objective – agree the target, the required behavior, and the format the molecule must take.
  • Build or select the library – construct a library or use an existing one that fits the target.
  • Screen under the right conditions – design panning or selection that rewards the required behavior, not binding alone.
  • Recover and validate – sequence the hits, express the candidates, and confirm performance in the intended assay.

How We Support Your Program

  • Multiple library formats – antibody fragments, engineered scaffolds, and peptides applied as the target requires.
  • Tailored selection – panning and screening conditions designed around the objective rather than a fixed protocol.
  • Documented evidence – sequencing, binding, and functional data delivered with the molecules.
  • Continuity – move from library construction through screening and validation within one program.

An Integrated Approach

Because construction and screening share one logic — represent the target in the library, then select for the behavior the project needs — a discovery program can be run as a single continuous effort. Whether the answer is expected to be an antibody fragment, an engineered scaffold, or a peptide, the same reasoning connects the library that is built to the selection that is applied, keeping the work coherent from first design to validated molecule.
